Background

Throughout South West Florida there are many Information Technology related clubs, organizations and societies. The intent of this club is to increase student involvement with these organizations. It is the opinion of the club founders that through involvement with the information technology community, FGCU students will be better prepared to enter the workforce upon graduation. Students choosing to participate in the club will be given the opportunity to network with potential employers, to be exposed to and learn about new technology, and to gain a better understanding of the skills employers are looking for. FGCU faculty involvement will help to tailor course work to the need of the IT employers in South West Florida. IT professionals involved with the club will be given the opportunity to get to know the students they may consider hiring after graduation or offer an internship.

Current Plans and Goals

The current plan is to notify students of information technology related speakers occurring in the South West Florida community. The goal of the organization is to promote interaction between FGCU students and faculty with the IT professionals within the community. In support of this goal notification of meetings and speakers within the community will continue but our club would also offer meeting space for IT speakers to help involve FGCU students even more.
